Welsh Conservatives have called for the Labour-Plaid Government to publish its detailed costings of last week's tuition fee announcement.
While the Party believes that Welsh students should be protected from the full impact of tuition fees in universities, the Assembly Government should now provide reassurances that its sums add up and the increasing financial commitment can be met.
Shadow Minister for Education, Paul Davies AM, said: "All we have really heard so far is that funding will come from top-slicing the teaching grant currently earmarked as funding for Welsh universities.
"Welsh Conservatives believe students should have confidence that this is a durable and long-term solution, and it is absolutely crucial that we are given a clear breakdown of exactly where the money is coming from, along with any costing forecasts.
"We are all acutely aware that these are financially difficult times and the right priorities and choices are now absolutely key.
"Consequently, all parties must be able to scrutinise the figures related to this significant decision."
