Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies recently visited the Hampton Court Holiday Park in Templeton during Tourism Week. The small friendly holiday park run by Peter and Sharon Russ and family offers specialist accommodation for wheelchair users along with nineteen privately owned caravans.
A specialist log cabin has been designed with a variety of adaptations to especially suit wheelchair users, particularly those who require carer assisted hoisting. In addition, work is currently taking place on a new toilet and shower block that will be easily accessible for wheelchair users and their carers.
Commenting on his visit, Paul Davies AM said “I was very pleased to visit Hampton Court Holiday Park to see for myself the impressive log cabin that could cater for wheelchair users and their carers. Peter Russ and his family have a wealth of experience in what is needed to cater for wheelchair users, and it was clear from my visit that this experience has been put to good use with the numerous adaptations in the log cabin.”
“This excellent facility allows disabled people to enjoy a break away from their normal routine, and I know that this is greatly valued. It was very pleasing to see for myself the additional work being carried out on the site that will further increase facilities for the disabled.”
“Following my visit, I was pleased to be able to raise the need for specific support for tourist businesses that provide for disabled people with the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Dafydd Elis-Thomas AM on the floor of the Assembly.”
