Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has called for the Welsh Government to do more to support Pembrokeshire as a hub for international trade connectivity. During a Welsh Conservative debate, Mr Davies highlighted the strategic importance of Milford Haven and Fishguard ports for trade and tourism and once again reiterated calls to dual the A40.
Mr Davies said, “Pembrokeshire is strategically important to both the Welsh and the UK economy, not just in terms of trade, but in terms of tourism too. That’s why the Welsh Government should be maximising the local area’s potential and generating inward investment into the County. We have two ports, which contribute a substantial amount to the local economy and provide much needed jobs in the region – but more can, and should be done to harness the ports’ potential. The Welsh Government must boost the tourism and trade opportunities Pembrokeshire offers by modernising our transport infrastructure and attracting new businesses.”
