Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies has taken part in a round-table discussion alongside other Assembly colleagues with the National Autistic Society. The discussions focused on some of the concerns the local NAS branch members have with the current support available in the area.
Mr Davies said, “It was very useful to meet with NAS branch representatives at the start of the Fifth Assembly not only to discuss wider autism matters, but to better understand some of the more local problems faced by people in Pembrokeshire. We discussed matters such as school exclusions and waiting times for diagnosis and I certainly left the discussion with far more of an idea of some of the challenges that families living with autism are facing.”
He added, “Engagement via these types of events is so useful in ensuring that politicians can make the best representations to the Welsh Government and to local stakeholders and I thank NAS Cymru for organising such an important meeting. For my part, I will continue to raise these matters with the Welsh Government and do all that I can to improve the lives of people with autism in Pembrokeshire.”
