Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has recently met with the Royal British Legion’s Public Affairs Manager for Wales to discuss the Legion’s support services for the armed forces’ community and to hear more about the local work that the Legion is doing in Pembrokeshire. The Legion is the largest welfare provider in the Armed Forces charity sector and has awarded a total of 798 grants across Wales in 2015/16 with a total value of £505,355.
Mr Davies said: “It was a pleasure to meet with the Royal British Legion and to hear about the crucial support that it offers to the armed forces community not only in Pembrokeshire, but right across Wales. It’s clear that their services and support are a vital lifeline for many in the armed forces community and so it’s great to see the positive impact that the Legion are having across Pembrokeshire.”
He added, “It was also a good opportunity to hear more about the Legion’s national objectives and I look forward to working with the Legion to ensure that those objectives are met and that the Welsh Government ensures that the armed forces community in Wales receive the right care and support that it needs.”
