Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has welcomed the Welsh Government’s plans to improve mobile connectivity across Wales, but expressed concerns that while some parts of Wales will be looking forward to 5G in the future, there are still areas of Pembrokeshire struggling to receive any mobile phone signal at all.
Mr Davies said, "I welcome any action taken to try and improve mobile connectivity across Wales, but it’s frustrating to see parts of the country continue to receive a faster, more accessible service, whilst some communities in Pembrokeshire receive no mobile coverage at all. The economic benefits of having a strong mobile reception are well known and it’s so important that businesses in Pembrokeshire are not left behind. Indeed, with the planned closure of local bank branches across the County, the need to have access to mobile banking is even more imperative. Therefore, I urge the Welsh Government to work with the UK Government to address Pembrokeshire’s mobile connectivity and ensure that local communities are on a level playing field with other parts of Wales.”
