Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies was pleased to pledge his support to the USDAW Campaign against violence towards shopworkers in the National Assembly. This is an important campaign which needs widespread support, from politicians and the general public.
Mr Davies said, “I was pleased to talk to a number of shopworkers currently who were fully embracing the campaign for shoppers to show respect to people who work in our stores and shops.
I was alarmed to learn that a shopworker is actually attacked or verbally abused during every minute of the working day. The latest figures show that verbal abuse and threats against shopworkers are up in the last two years, and violence has increased by an astonishing 40% since 2016. That’s why this campaign is so important because we must all work together to stamp out this unacceptable behaviour.
The message from USDAW is clear – enjoy your bargain hunting, keep your cool and respect shopworkers.”
