The campaign to protect Wales’ war memorials was once again raised at the Senedd by Preseli Pembrokeshire MS Paul Davies. Mr Davies, who has been calling for action to protect war memorials in Wales for several years, reiterated those calls and asked the Welsh Government to do more to protect our military heritage.
Mr Davies said, “It’s vital that future generations can, not only remember the sacrifices made by so many for our freedoms but learn about previous conflicts and develop a greater understanding of how we have become the nation we are today. For that reason, I believe that more needs to be done to safeguard and protect Wales’ war memorials.”
“The Welsh Government must work with local authorities and police forces and ensure there is sufficient funding in place for the authorities to protect war memorials in their local areas. In the meantime, I will continue to stand up for our fallen heroes and raise this matter with the Welsh Government at every available opportunity.”
