Senedd Member Paul Davies has met with Pembrokeshire College to discuss a consultation on qualifications for 14 to16 year olds in Wales. Qualifications Wales, the independent regulator of non-degree qualifications in Wales, is running a consultation on qualifications for 14 to 16 year olds to support the ambition of the Curriculum for Wales. Mr Davies met with Assistant Principal of Pembrokeshire College, Jackie Mathias and her colleagues, and they discussed the consultation and the need for further collaboration between schools and colleges to deliver vocational skills in Pembrokeshire.
Mr Davies said, “I’m grateful to Jackie and the team at Pembrokeshire College for meeting with me to discuss this important consultation. The deadline is fast approaching and it’s vital that as many people as possible take part and make their views known. I’m very keen to ensure that 14 to 16 year olds have access to high-quality vocational skills courses and I’ll certainly be pressing the Welsh Government to ensure that young people have opportunities to access vocational skills training in Pembrokeshire. It’s also crucial that schools and colleges collaborate together locally to provide opportunities for learners. The consultation closing date is at midnight on Wednesday 14th June and I’d encourage everyone who has a view on this to visit the Qualifications Wales website and make sure to submit those views.”
