A and E services at Withybush hospital were raised directly with the First Minister by local Senedd Member Paul Davies. Mr Davies questioned the First Minister over Hywel Dda University Health Board’s plans to ‘repurpose’ or ‘rebuild’ Withybush hospital, which would see it lose its accident and emergency services. Mr Davies also highlighted the importance of the golden hour in receiving emergency treatment and argued it was vital that services remained at the local hospital.
Mr Davies said, “Protecting services at Withybush hospital is my top priority and I will raise this issue at every available opportunity in the Senedd. For years Withybush hospital has seen services downgraded and moved further eastwards and it’s simply not fair. The Welsh Government has the power to intervene and work with me and local campaigners to ensure services stay put at Withybush and I will do everything in my power to encourage Ministers to protect our local A and E services.”
