Preseli Pembrokeshire Senedd Member Paul Davies has called on the Welsh Health Minister, Baroness Morgan of Ely to intervene and stop proposals to reduce Pembrokeshire’s emergency ambulance cover. Baroness Morgan, who represents Mid and West Wales at the Senedd refused to respond to Mr Davies’ question but offered to provide Senedd Members a briefing on the current challenges facing the ambulance service.
Mr Davies said, “I’m very disappointed that the Minister blatantly disregarded my call for intervention to protect our ambulance services. Frontline NHS staff have made it clear that proposals to reduce Pembrokeshire’s ambulance cover would have a catastrophic impact on the workforce and on local people in the county and so I hoped the Minister would at least address their valid concerns. Sadly, as we’ve seen in so many cases, the Welsh Government continue to ignore the views of the people of Pembrokeshire and instead turn to cheap political attacks, instead of focusing their time and effort defending and supporting local health services. Make no mistake – I will continue to fight for Pembrokeshire’s local services and I will raise this at every opportunity. We in Pembrokeshire deserve to be listened to and our concerns treated with respect.”
