Local Senedd Member Paul Davies is supporting Cervical Screening Awareness Week from 14th-20th June, led by Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of cervical screening. Cervical screening (a smear test) is the best protection against cervical cancer, yet over a quarter of those invited don’t take up their invitation. Sadly, the impact of COVID-19 on the programme, and reluctance of some to access primary care over the last year have provided further hurdles.
Mr Davies said: “I’m proud to be supporting the Cervical Screening Awareness Week to help spread the message about the importance of attending a cervical screening. I appreciate that cervical screening and waiting for results can be difficult and if you don't have the facts or know where to find support, it can be even harder. For that reason, it’s important that we all take a moment to learn more about the importance of cervical screening and what local services are on offer.
