Local Member of the Senedd Paul Davies has welcomed a statement issued by the Welsh Government on its plans to allow further year groups to return to school. Mr Davies raised this specific matter yesterday (2nd March 2021) and asked for a statement to be forthcoming as soon as possible so that parents can have some clarity over the Welsh Government’s plans and what it means for their families.
Mr Davies said, “I’m pleased that the Welsh Government has reconsidered its approach, listened to the calls of myself and my colleagues and published a statement on its plans for reopening schools. As the vaccination programme continues to make progress across Wales, it’s vital that all children are able to return to the classroom as soon as possible. Parents are rightly frustrated at the lack of urgency in allowing other school years to return to school and it’s crucial that parents have clarity on this issue. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a huge impact on children and young people and it’s vital that all pupils are able to return to school safely and as quickly as possible.”
