Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and to commit to educating future generations about the impact of those events on global society. The signing of the Book of Commitment takes place as part of Holocaust Memorial Day (January 27th).
Mr Davies said: “We must never forget the truly dreadful events of the Holocaust and the impact that those events have had on our world and so I was deeply honoured to once again sign the Holocaust Book of Commitment and reaffirm my commitment to ensuring that our future generations continue to remember these events.”
He added, “The Book of Commitment is part of the wider campaign to raise awareness of Holocaust Memorial Day and it’s crucial that schools, community groups and the wider public take a moment to reflect on the events of the Holocaust and learn lessons about the way in which we treat each other. It’s therefore crucial that we all continue to work together to promote a tolerant and open society for our future generations.”
