Welsh Parliament Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire Paul Davies has recently met with voluntary sector representatives to hear more about the impact that Covid-19 is having on the third sector across the country and to learn more about some of the progress being made in ensuring local groups and organisations are receiving the funding and support they need to support people across Wales. Mr Davies had a meeting with Ruth Marks of Wales Council for Voluntary Action and Sue Leonard of Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services via the online platform, Zoom.
Following the meeting Mr Davies said, “It was a pleasure to speak to Ruth and Sue about ways in which we can build on some of the good progress being made in supporting the third sector throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and I’m pleased to hear that some very good work has been done locally in administering grant funding. Moving forward, it’s important that we build on that good work for the future. I look forward to continuing to work with the third sector to help develop more community led economic growth and help facilitate local initiatives to bring about important behavioural and cultural change.”
Sue and Ruth commented “We appreciated the opportunity to update Paul on local, regional and national issues relating to the voluntary sector’s role in Covid response and how important place based partnerships will be for the recovery phase and the future.”
