Commenting on Nicole Cooke's gold medal win at the Beijing Olympics in the women's cycling road race, Leader of the Official Opposition Nick Bourne AM said:
"This is a magnificent achievement for Nicole Cooke.
"It was a wonderful victory.
"Her gold medal cements Nicole's place as one of the country's sporting champions."
Shadow Culture Minister Paul Davies AM added:
"We all send our most sincere congratulations to Nicole Cooke.
"She put up a great performance on Sunday in what was an incredibly exciting race in difficult conditions.
"An Olympic gold medal is the greatest prize to be won in sport and Nicole should be immensely proud of what she has achieved."
