Fears about lack of out of hours GP cover has been raised in the Welsh Assembly by Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies.
Mr Davies is concerned about plans to cut GP cover by two thirds at weekends and nighttimes. It will leave the whole of Pembrokeshire with just one on-call GP based at Withybush.
"It is essential that the people whom I represent in rural communities receive access to health services at the point of need as quickly as possible," Mr Davies told Welsh Health Minister Edwina Hart.
"Given the rural nature of the County, that could lead to huge problems."
The Community Health Council (CHC) has been contacted by members of the public concerned about the cutbacks and will be hosting a presentation on the matter at its next meeting on Monday.
*The regular bi-monthly meeting of the CHC at which the cutbacks will be discussed will be held at 5.30pm on Monday November 17 at County Hall in Haverfordwest.
