CLARIFICATION needs to be given regarding the proposed school reorganisation plans for schools in the Gwynedd county council area.
Shadow Education Minister Paul Davies has written to the council to challenge them over their consultation process.
Mr Davies said:
"I am concerned by various things I have been told by people in the area so I have written to the council to seek clarification over several points.
"I find it very odd to hear that parents haven't been consulted in this ongoing school reorganisation.
"Why wouldn't the council want to hear the views of the people this will affect on a daily basis?
"Also given that alternative proposals have been put forward for the Tywyn area, I would like to know if the council considered these and if so, what the reasons are behind not taking them up.
"It is vital that as far as possible when it comes to school reorganisation the community is consulted and their views listened to.
"This is a stressful time for parents and children and keeping the community fully informed of what decisions are being made and why is vital."
