A campaign to prevent plastic pollution and help people live with less waste has been backed by local Senedd Member Paul Davies. The theme for this year’s World Refill Day is ‘getting reusables back on the menu’ in the wake of the pandemic. Over the last 18 months, there has been an increase in single-use plastic and so the campaign aims to mobilise individuals, demonstrating consumer demand for reuse and also to share guidance with businesses so they know how to safely accept reusables as they reopen post-pandemic.
Local Senedd Member Paul Davies said, “Plastic production is expected to double again over the next 20 years and almost quadruple by 2050 – therefore the time to act is now. We must all take steps to reduce our use of single-use plastics and I’m keen to work with local and national stakeholders to make single-use packaging a thing of the past. By choosing to reuse, you and I can help send a message to the rest of the world that the solutions to plastic pollution and the climate crisis are there – and together we can keep our environment, oceans, cities and communities plastic-free for the future.”
