Local Welsh Parliament Member Paul Davies has welcomed the news that a petition organised by local schoolchildren from St Aidan’s Church in Wales VA School will be discussed by the Senedd’s Petitions Committee on the 9th June. The petition calls on the Welsh Parliament to change the way plastic milk bottles are used in schools, by banning single use plastic milk bottles and looking at recyclable options.
Mr Davies said, “I’m very proud to see the hard work of Class 4 at St Aidan’s school being discussed by the Petitions Committee. The pupils have worked extremely hard to raise awareness of this important issue and the petition has gathered over 300 signatures. The petition rightly calls for a ban on single use plastic bottles and I hope the committee will respond positively to the children’s calls. We can all do more to help protect our environment and minimise waste and this is a good example of positive action that can be taken. I look forward to hearing the Committee’s discussion and how the proposals will be considered further by the Welsh Government.”
