Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has criticised the Welsh Government for failing to provide Pembrokeshire with additional funding, after it was announced that Powys, Ceredigion and Monmouthshire will now share an extra £2.5m to help deliver public services.
Mr Davies said, “Whilst it’s good that the Welsh Government has come to its senses and recognised that rural councils should receive additional funding, it’s shameful that Pembrokeshire has once again been neglected. It’s quite clear that Pembrokeshire is not a priority for the Welsh government and this announcement, coupled with severe underfunding has been detrimental to our County”
He added, “This all amounts to a draining of resources in Pembrokeshire, an area of strategic importance to many of Wales’ industries, such as tourism, agriculture and energy. Rural areas like Pembrokeshire need and deserve better and I urge the Welsh Government to revisit their decision.”
