Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is asking people across Pembrokeshire to remain vigilant in order to prevent becoming victims of scams during the coronavirus pandemic period. The National Crime Agency (NCA) has warned that people and businesses should be wary of scammers trying to turn the coronavirus pandemic to their advantage, following reports that scammers have been targeting vulnerable people including those self-isolating at home.
Mr Davies said, “Whilst there has been an extraordinary amount of generosity and good will shown by so many across the country, there are still fraudsters out there, targeting vulnerable people and in some cases disguising themselves as official agencies. Sadly, many scams can come across as genuine and so if you are in any doubt at all, then please ignore the offer, delete the email or hang up the phone if it’s a telephone call. It’s also important that we all look out for one another and report any signs of suspicious activity to Dyfed Powys Police.”
