Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies has taken part in the official opening of the fourth session of the National Assembly, held last week. The opening of the Fourth Assembly by HM the Queen marked a fresh term for Welsh politics following the recent referendum on further powers and the Assembly elections on May 5th.
Interim Leader of the Welsh Conservative Assembly Group, Mr Davies said, "I was honoured to take part in the Royal Opening of the Fourth Assembly in my capacity as Interim Leader. I was fortunate to have the privilege of escorting HRH the Duchess of Cornwall throughout the day's proceedings. We had a beautiful meal at the Wales Millennium Centre which gave us the opportunity to sit down and have a good conversation."
Mr Davies added, "The theme for the first year of the Fourth Assembly is "assembly of communities" which is something that the Welsh Conservatives feel very strongly about. The focus will now be on delivery and ensuring that the Welsh Government delivers for the people of Wales."
"As the largest Opposition Party, we will be focused on getting what's right for the people of Wales, by scrutinising and holding this government to account. I will also be looking to raise the profile of Pembrokeshire at the Assembly, and press the Welsh Government to address some of the burning issues facing the people of Pembrokeshire, such as Withybush hospital, the economy and rural transport issues."
