Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has recently attended a reception to raise awareness of Blood Bikes Wales, a voluntary organisation, which provides an out-of-hours emergency motorcycle courier service to hospitals across Wales. They provide the service, free of charge and are funded by public donations.
Mr Davies said, “I’m delighted to show my support for Blood Bikes Wales and help raise awareness of the important work that the riders do. I understand that for every £1 donated to the service, the NHS saves £5, so the whole concept is a win-win for everyone. The riders are all volunteers who give up their free time to transport urgent medical supplies such as blood, plasma, test samples and other items between health sites. I pay tribute to all the riders, who are providing an invaluable service to our health service and I sincerely hope that the public continue to support this worthwhile cause.”
