In the first session of oral questions to the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport, local Assembly Member Paul Davies called on the new Secretary to honour the Assembly election result in Pembrokeshire and re-establish services at Withybush hospital.
Local AM Paul Davies said, “At the recent Assembly election elections, I stood on a platform to see services returned to Withybush hospital where they belong and the people of Pembrokeshire supported that. Therefore, the new Cabinet Secretary has a moral obligation to honour the result in Pembrokeshire and give the electorate what they want – their hospital services back.”
He added, “I was disappointed that the Cabinet Secretary refused to even review the Welsh Government’s position on this matter. It’s evident that the views of the people of Pembrokeshire just aren’t a priority for this Welsh Government and neither is respecting democracy. Instead, the new Cabinet Secretary made it clear that this Government will continue with the tired, unpopular and dangerous plans of the previous Government.”
