Local Assembly Member Paul Davies recently took part in the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Ride. Cycling 2km in five minutes, Mr Davies joined Assembly colleagues on the exercise bikes at the Senedd to help raise awareness of the work of the Royal British Legion across Wales and to say a big thank you to the armed forces community in Wales.
Mr Davies said, “It’s always an honour to take part in the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Ride and show my support for Wales’ outstanding service personnel and veterans. This year marks 100 years since the end of the First World War and we must continue to remember the very real sacrifices that were made for our country.”
He added, “As part of my efforts to support the armed forces community in Wales, I’ve long campaigned for the Welsh Government to better protect war memorials as they are an essential part of the cultural and social fabric of our country. Therefore, I will continue to call on Welsh Government Ministers to look at ways in which we can better protect our military heritage for future generations.”
