Local Assembly Member Paul Davies recently took part in a debate on faith tourism and religious buildings in the Assembly Chamber. The debate, tabled by the Welsh Conservatives recognised the importance of Wales' religious buildings and welcomed the Welsh Government's Faith Tourism Action Plan.
Paul Davies said, "I was pleased to take part in the debate on religious buildings and the role that they can play in boosting the Welsh economy. Pembrokeshire fortunately houses a number of religious buildings, most notably St David's Cathedral, which attracts thousands of visitors to the County each year."
"My focus during this debate was to call on the Welsh Government work with religious buildings to help advise them on what grants and funding are available to them. I would also like to see a clearer picture of how faith tourism benefits the Welsh economy. Our religious heritage is something that we should all be proud of - and the Welsh Government must now redouble its efforts in marketing Wales' religious heritage to the rest of the world."
