Local Assembly Member Paul Davies recently attended an event to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day and hear from inspirational Holocaust survivor Mala Tribich MBE. Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2020 marks 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau as well as the 25th anniversary of the Genocide in Bosnia.
Mr Davies said, “It’s so important that we look back on these events and reflect on the enormous impact that they had on so many people across the world. The theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is to “Stand Together” and it’s vital that we all take the opportunity to stand together with others in our communities in order to stop division and the spread of hatred in our society. We all want Wales to be a tolerant country where respect for one another is shared and that’s why we need to do all we can to remember the lessons of the past and ensure they’re not repeated in the future.”
