Local Assembly Member Paul Davies recently co-sponsored the Countryside Alliance awards at the Senedd (Wednesday 7th March). The Countryside Alliance awards, Wales’ premier rural business awards – are often known as the Rural Oscars and are held annually to celebrate Wales’ rural enterprises and award those businesses that have made an overwhelming commitment to their local economy and community.
Mr Davies said, “It’s always a pleasure to attend the Countryside Alliance awards and celebrate some of Wales’ finest rural businesses. Pembrokeshire was very well represented by businesses including Ken Davies Ai Fab from Crymych and Siop Y Pentre from Cilgerran. I’m delighted that St Dogmael’s Local Producers Market came away with an award in the ‘Local Food’ category and Sarah Eynon of Siop Sarah in Maenclochog was awarded the Rural Hero Award for over 30 years’ service to her community. The awards ceremony was a great opportunity to hear more about how Governments at all levels can support rural businesses and how we can better promote their goods and services. Therefore, I’d strongly encourage everyone to make a concerted effort to support local businesses and help keep Pembrokeshire producers and suppliers on the map for years to come.”
