Senedd Member Paul Davies has committed to supporting a Clean Air Act for Wales as part of his efforts to support Clean Air Day. Thursday 17 June 2021 marks Clean Air Day and it’s believed that every year nearly 1,400 lives are lost, one billion pounds are spent, and thousands of particles are inhaled by future generations, which will impact their health and their development for decades to come. Therefore, Paul Davies is joining calls for an appropriate Clean Air Act to be brought forward in the Sixth Senedd.
Mr Davies said, “Reducing the impact of air pollution is crucial and that’s why I’m committed to working with stakeholders and politicians across the Senedd Chamber to see a Clean Air Act delivered in Wales. Poor air quality has been linked to increases in childhood asthma, dementia, lung and heart disease, mental health and obesity – and so action must be taken now. On Clean Air Day 2021, I’m again committing to supporting a Clean Air Act and I’ll be doing what I can to raise this in the Senedd and urging Government Ministers to take action and bring forward this much-needed legislation.”
