Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has once again called on the Welsh Government to dual the A40 in Pembrokeshire, following the announcement of the Swansea Bay City Region deal, agreed between the UK Government, the Welsh Government and local partners. Mr Davies called for the A40 to become a dual carriageway in order to make the most of the impact of this proposal on communities in Pembrokeshire.
Mr Davies said, “While Governments at both ends of the M4 press ahead with important economic announcements like the Swansea Bay City Region deal, it’s crucial that areas like Pembrokeshire also maximise the opportunity to deliver improvements to its local infrastructure. For too long Pembrokeshire has suffered a neglect in infrastructure investment compared to other parts of Wales and recent road closures have once again highlighted the very real need to see this road dualled as soon as possible. I’m pleased that the First Minister said he would consider new transport priorities following the Swansea Bay City Region deal and I look forward to hearing more about how these priorities will deliver improvements for the people of Pembrokeshire.”
