Preseli Pembrokeshire Senedd Member Paul Davies has recently attended a reception to mark Welsh Farming Week. At the event, NFU Cymru launched its “Framing the future for the next generation” report which provided several recommendations to the Welsh Government on how it can better support the next generation of farmers in Wales. Mr Davies joined colleagues at the Senedd to celebrate Welsh farming and hear from some young farmers about their policy priorities for the future.
Mr Davies said, “It was a huge privilege to attend the NFU Cymru’s Senedd reception and reiterate my support for farmers in Wales. Wales’ global reputation for fine food and drink is a testament to the hard work of farmers across the country and we need to back Welsh farmers and protect the sustainability of the sector for years to come.”
He added, “It was also great to hear from young farmers about their thoughts on the sector and its future. The report on Framing the future for the next generation makes some key recommendations like access to finance, public procurement and the education system and I will be sure to raise these matters with the Minister when the next opportunity presents itself.”
