Local Senedd Member Paul Davies attended a drop-in event to discuss the future of GP services in St Davids and spoke to residents about the long-term provision of services in the area. The event, held by Hywel Dda University Health Board encouraged members of the community to have their say on the future of services. The drop-in event is part of the Health Board’s wider public engagement exercise with patients before it considers how it will deliver services in the future.
Mr Davies said, “My position on this matter is crystal clear – there should be a GP practice in St Davids and the Health Board must ensure that patients do not have to travel further afield for primary care services in the future. Some patients can’t travel far and have no access to public transport and so a local GP practice is absolutely essential.”
“This public engagement exercise must be meaningful, and the Health Board must develop a way forward based on the response of the local community. I spoke to patients today and it was clear that they want services in the community, not elsewhere. It’s now down to the Health Board to provide those services in the medium and longer term.”
