Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has recently visited St Davids Cathedral library, the only Cathedral Library in situ in Wales. At present, there are approximately 7,000 books dating from as far back as the 16th Century and the Visitors Book in the Cathedral Treasury also shows the signatures of prominent suffragettes Emmeline Pankhurst, Annie Kenney and Mary Blathwayt following their visit to the Cathedral in 1908.
Mr Davies commented, “I was honoured to visit St Davids Cathedral library and learn more about some of the interesting treasures that the library is home to. We’re very fortunate to have such a rich and interesting facility on our doorstep and I’d certainly encourage everyone to take the opportunity to visit the library, which is open to the public on Monday and Friday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm. My sincere thanks go to the Dean of St Davids, the Very Revd Dr Sarah Rowland Jones and Mari James for their time and hospitality and I look forward to seeing the library continue to collect more and more interesting and remarkable pieces in the future.”
