Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is supporting the progression of the DeltaStream device project, which will be the first ever tidal stream project to be deployed in Welsh territorial waters. The tidal power scheme will provide green electricity to the local distribution network during its 12 month test period, with the potential to power up to 1,000 homes.
Paul Davies said, "I am pleased to support this wonderful scheme. I have been pleased to meet with Martin Murphy and Chris Williams of Tidal Energy Limited, and also to attend the public drop in session that was organised in St David's. I was particularly pleased that the company has been keen to involve the local community, and local residents have had the opportunity to learn more about this exciting renewable energy project. I understand that another public drop-in session to keep people informed is planned in the near future."
"This project will not only provide the marine renewables industry with much needed information on how marine renewables projects and the environment interact, but it will also create a number of skilled jobs for the local economy. This is a fantastic opportunity for Pembrokeshire and I look forward to seeing this scheme develop over the next few months."
