Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has again held a debate in the Assembly Chamber on the centralisation of services to Glangwili hospital, calling for patient experiences to be heard by the Welsh Government and Hywel Dda health board and for the reintroduction of services at Withybush hospital.
Mr Davies said, “As the Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire I have always raised the issues of my constituents and I will continue to do so. Heath services in Pembrokeshire continue to be a top priority for local people and so I was pleased to again highlight their concerns in the Assembly Chamber. Patient experiences of the new arrangements for maternity, neonatal and paediatric services at Glangwili hospital must be heard. I was appalled by the Deputy Minister for Health’s response on behalf of the Welsh Government, which demonstrated a disturbing lack of empathy for the very real experiences felt by people in Pembrokeshire.”
He added, “The health board and the Welsh Government must reverse their centralisation agenda. Lives could be put at risk. Families across Pembrokeshire must have full confidence that they can receive the care that they need on their doorstep and currently, that is simply not the case. Therefore, I will continue to fight against the health board and Welsh Government’s catastrophic proposals both in Pembrokeshire and at the Assembly.”
