The decision by Portfield Dental Practice in Haverfordwest to return its General Dental Services (NHS) contract to Hywel Dda University Health Board has been met with disappointment by local Senedd Member Paul Davies. From 1 June 2024 the Practice will no longer be providing NHS dental care to its patients.
Mr Davies, “Portfield Practice now joins a growing list of dentists in west Wales that are no longer providing NHS dental care and I understand why some patients will be frustrated and worried with this announcement.”
“Access to NHS dental care in Pembrokeshire is already very difficult for many residents and yet, when I’ve raised this at the Senedd, the Welsh Government continues to say that things are improving.”
“It’s clear that more needs to be done to ensure that NHS dental care is available in Pembrokeshire and I urge the Welsh Government and Hywel Dda University Health Board to prioritise this as a matter of urgency.”
