A letter from local clinicians criticising Hywel Dda University Health Board’s proposals to transform clinical services has been welcomed by local Assembly Member Paul Davies. The letter, sent from the Withybush Medical Staff Committee (MSC) to the Health Board called for reassurances that services would remain in the Pembrokeshire area and that each of the three counties in the Health Board region has its own local hospital.
Mr Davies said, “This letter is further proof that clinicians do not overwhelmingly support the changes that the local Health Board are implementing, as the Welsh Government would have the people of Pembrokeshire believe. It’s quite clear that the Withybush Medical Staff Committee have concerns over the centralisation of services further afield and they have made it abundantly clear that population needs have not been sufficiently taken into account. Of course, it’s my view that services must remain at Withybush hospital and I will continue to do all that I can to see services protected in Pembrokeshire for the future.”
