Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is pleased to publically support The Prostate Cancer Charity's "Quality Care. Everywhere" campaign which has drafted a set of standards that outline the best quality care that all men with prostate cancer need. In Wales, 2,500 men are diagnosed every year and 13,300 men are now living with the disease, meaning that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies said, "It is important that each and every patient should receive adequate information and support regardless of where they live or the stage of their prostate cancer – a postcode lottery in the care received by prostate cancer patients is wholly unacceptable. This is particularly important given that one in four of those patients questioned were not happy with the information they received during their prostate cancer care.
"It is important that public awareness of prostate cancer is raised and I am happy to add my name to this important campaign. I very much hope that the Welsh Government will work with The Prostate Cancer Charity to address issues with prostate cancer care in Pembrokeshire and Wales; and for my part, I will continue to raise this issue in the Assembly Chamber at every available opportunity."
