Cataract treatments and services in Pembrokeshire have been raised in the National Assembly Chamber thanks to local Assembly Member Paul Davies. Mr Davies called on the First Minister to condemn the refusal to give treatment to patients suffering cataract problems, following representations from constituents who have been refused treatment by Hywel Dda local health board.
Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies said, "This is an increasingly frustrating issue for some of my constituents who have been told that they cannot receive the treatment that they desperately need. Sadly, the refusal of such treatment can cause health and lifestyle problems for these patients in the long term and have a negative impact on the quality of people's lives."
"Some health care provisions in Pembrokeshire have been neglected by the Welsh Government in recent years and I sincerely hope that the Welsh Government can address these concerns as a matter of urgency. The Welsh Government must now work closer with Hywel Dda health board to ensure that these issues are resolved as quickly as possible."
