Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies has attended the launch of Angling Cymru, a partnership between the three National Governing Bodies (coarse, game and sea) for angling in Wales. Angling brings in over £150 million into the Welsh economy each year and the launch of the new partnership marks the start of a whole host of new initiatives and developments for angling in Wales.
Mr Davies said, "I was delighted to attend the launch of Angling Cymru to celebrate the success of Welsh fishing and promote angling across Wales. In Wales alone it is estimated that some 1.5 million people go fishing and it supports numerous jobs and businesses in Wales."
He added, "Angling also has a range of wider benefits including improving public health and wellbeing. There are several events happening in and around Pembrokeshire over the coming weeks, which I would encourage people across Pembrokeshire to get involved in.
