Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has called for a commitment from the Welsh Government to dual the A40 in Pembrokeshire, following the publication of the Welsh Government’s Programme for Government. Mr Davies called on the First Minister to not to rule out dualling the A40 in Pembrokeshire, following confirmation in the Programme for Government that improvements to the A40 would be made in this Assembly.
Mr Davies said: “I’m pleased to see that the Welsh Government will be delivering improvements to the A40 in Pembrokeshire over the next few years, but the time has come for the A40 to be dualled. Dualling the A40 will send a clear message that Pembrokeshire is open for business as well as tackling traffic congestion, which can be particularly heavy during the summer months. Whilst I welcome any steps to improve Pembrokeshire’s transport network, it’s clear that the Welsh Government need to get on with the job of dualling the road and delivering real infrastructure improvements in west Wales.”
