With Small Business Saturday this weekend and Christmas fast approaching, local Assembly Paul Davies is encouraging the people of Pembrokeshire to show their support for local businesses this year. This comes following news from the Welsh Retail Consortium that Wales has experienced the biggest fall in retail footfall in the UK, which, coupled with a Welsh vacancy rate for the quarter of 13.4%, sees Wales with more empty shops than any other nation in Britain
Mr Davies said, “When it comes to small businesses, Pembrokeshire really does have something for everyone – from food and drink, to home accessories and gifts for all the family. So let’s do our bit and show our support for our small businesses in the run up to Christmas and make a real difference to the local economy. I understand that shopping online can certainly be convenient, but supporting shops on Pembrokeshire’s high streets will help sustain their viability for the future. Supporting our local businesses also helps local employment and ensures people have job opportunities in the local area.”
