Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has been selected for a short debate on the 26th January and has decided to use the opportunity to celebrate food tourism in Pembrokeshire and its local produce.
The debate will discuss building on local successes and talk about further developing the opportunities that are available, as well as issues such as educating people about local produce, encouraging more businesses to take part in farmer's markets and developing allotments.
Paul Davies said, "This will be a great opportunity to educate people about the wonderful food and drink scene that we have here in Pembrokeshire and to look at ways of developing the food tourism sector in west Wales."
"I believe that Pembrokeshire is the food tourism capital and the place for local produce. Throughout this debate, I will be urging the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Minister for Heritage to consider the importance of Pembrokeshire to Wales' agriculture and tourism industries when they are developing plans for food tourism in the future. I will also be calling on the Welsh Assembly Government to work closer with the local authority here in Pembrokeshire to provide a collaborative partnership that promotes the benefits of locally sourced produce."
