Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has attended a national ‘Light a Candle’ service at Llandaf Cathedral for the International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women. Mr Davies, the Deputy Leader of the Welsh Conservative Assembly Group, attended the service along with other politicians and faith leaders to raise awareness of violence against women and reflect on its impact on families across Wales.
Mr Davies said, “I was honoured to attend the service and show my support for women living with violence in Wales. The service gave the attendees an opportunity to reflect on the seriousness of domestic abuse and how devastating its impact can be for families across Wales. Too many women and children are facing domestic abuse in their homes and it’s absolutely crucial that politicians work with third sector organisations and faith leaders to help women living in abusive households by providing support and advice. We must also work together to develop important educational messages about how abuse affects families, to educate children and young people and prevent abuse occurring in the first place.”
