A campaign to support young carers across Wales is being back by Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member, Paul Davies. Ahead of Young Carers Awareness Day on January 30th, Mr Davies is pledging his support for young carers by raising awareness of some of the challenges that they face and calling on the Welsh Government to redouble its efforts in providing support to young carers.
Mr Davies said, “We know that more than a fifth of secondary school pupils from less affluent backgrounds in Wales are juggling school with caring responsibilities and it’s absolutely crucial that they have access to as much support as possible. Wales’ young carers are our unsung heroes and we must make sure we do more to help them manage their responsibilities so they can live a life as happy and healthy as possible. I will be doing all that I can to ensure that the Welsh Government uses all the levers at its disposal to support young carers in Wales and I urge everyone ahead of Young Carers Day to show their support for this important campaign”
