Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is calling on the Welsh Government to pass on the additional funding given by the UK Government to local schools in Pembrokeshire. The consequential from the UK Government would boost Pembrokeshire’s education budget by £48.9million over the next three years.
Mr Davies said, “We know that Wales’ education system is in desperate need of additional resources and so it’s absolutely vital that the Welsh Government pass on this additional funding to schools across the country. As a result of the UK Government’s £1.24billion package, Pembrokeshire would receive around £48.9million over the next three years, which would make a substantial difference to its local schools. The money was allocated for the education system and it’s only fair that the Welsh Government do the right thing and pass that money on. Earlier this year, the Welsh Government’s school categorisation figures showed that Pembrokeshire has the highest percentage of primary schools needing most support in Wales and so it’s crucial that this funding is passed on to those schools as soon as possible.”
