RESPONDING to the Audit Committee's report published today on the Wales Millennium Centre, Shadow Culture Minister Paul Davies said:
"We welcome the recommendations put forward by this report.
"It was made clear in the Auditor General's report earlier this year that the Assembly Government failed to monitor the financial situation at the WMC after the building was complete.
"It is therefore not surprising the Audit Committee is recommending the Arts Council should perhaps take over responsibility for funding and monitoring the WMC.
"I also welcome any moves to make funding of large projects in Wales more transparent and robust scrutiny exists from the earliest stage when it comes to the use of public money."
